Hi! I'm Oren. 👋🏻

I'm an award winning singing teacher, inventor, and serial entrepreneur. I have a passion for the voice, musical theatre, and making things, and I co-host the Five Minute Call - a podcast that explores the lives and stories of theatre makers.

I've been engaged in voice education for the past 12 years, delivering one-to-one teaching, masterclasses, lectures, and online courses. As well as developing and patenting a new straw phonation tool (called the Resono), and authoring a #1 Amazon "Most Wished For" book on the physics of singing straws.

I was the 2019 recipient of the CCFL Outstanding Singing Teacher Award for my contributions to voice education, and I was also a Finalist at the 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

A singing teacher often focuses on foundational technique—things like pitch, breath control, posture, and basic vocal exercises.

A vocal coach, on the other hand, goes further: helping you apply technique in performance, fine-tune artistry, interpret repertoire, and prepare for auditions or professional gigs.

I’m a vocal coach, which means I not only guide your voice development, but also help you become a stronger performer—whether you're preparing for a West End role, drama school, or a recording session.

Not necessarily “better”—just different. If you're starting from scratch, a singing teacher might help you build healthy basics.

But if you already sing and want to improve your style, expression, stamina or repertoire, a vocal coach is often more appropriate.

I work best with singers who want to refine their craft and perform with confidence, nuance, and technique that holds up under pressure.

To get the most out of your lesson, you’ll need:

  • - A laptop, desktop or tablet (phones can work, but aren’t ideal)
  • - A stable internet connection
  • - A quiet space where you can stand, sing freely, and not be disturbed
  • - Headphones (wired or wireless) to prevent audio feedback
  • - A built-in or external microphone

All lessons are taught via a private video call, typically using Google Meet.

You’ll receive a link in your booking confirmation—no software download required, just click and join from your browser.

Try to:

  • - Stand with your camera at chest or head height so I can see posture and breath movement
  • - Ensure there’s enough room to move, gesture, and breathe freely
  • - Keep background noise (fans, music, pets) to a minimum
  • - Use natural light or a lamp to make sure you’re well-lit and visible

I primarily work with adults and young people aged 14 and up who are passionate about their voice and committed to developing their craft—whether that’s for professional performance, drama school auditions, gigging, or personal growth.

For teenage singers (14–17), I offer tailored coaching that nurtures both vocal technique and performance confidence. A parent or guardian must be present nearby during sessions, and all lessons are recorded and securely shared for practice and accountability.

If you're dedicated, curious, and ready to grow—no matter your age—you’ll be a great fit.

Absolutely. Many clients begin with a single session to get a feel for my approach. There’s no pressure to commit to a block—though most people choose to continue once they’ve experienced the difference personalised coaching can make.

This depends on your goals, availability, and current level.

Most clients book weekly or fortnightly to maintain progress and momentum. Audition prep or intensive periods may involve more frequent sessions—I'm happy to help plan a schedule that suits you.

Definitely. If you’re experiencing some vocal issues, need help with a tricky section of a song, or want a second opinion on your technique, a one-off consultation can be incredibly useful.

  • - Notice Period: Students are required to provide at least 48 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling a lesson. Please email: bookings@rayvox.co.ukwith your request. Lessons canceled or rescheduled with fewer than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
  • - No-Show: If a student fails to show up for a scheduled lesson without prior notice, the full lesson fee will be charged.
  • - Teacher Cancellations: In the rare event that I (the teacher) must cancel or reschedule a lesson, there will be no charge to the student. Every effort will be made to accommodate a make-up lesson at a mutually convenient time.
  • - Make-Up Lessons: Make-up lessons may be offered if the student provides proper notice (48 hours or more) and if scheduling permits. However, repeated cancellations, even with 48-hour notice, may result in limited availability for make-up lessons.

I work with many professional singers whose voices are their livelihood. As such, they take great care in protecting their vocal health and avoiding illness. Additionally, I am currently undergoing immune-therapy and have a compromised immune system. Therefore it is critical that we maintain a healthy environment for everyone.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, no matter how minor, please do not attend your lesson in person. Please let me know as soon as possible and we will conduct your session online instead. Alternatively, we can reschedule your session if the notice period is given.

Should you arrive for an in-person lesson while visibly or audibly unwell and without prior notice, you may be asked to leave, and you will not receive a refund for that session.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep everyone healthy. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
